Remembering Todd, 2025 & Beyond

"He stands in the unbroken line of patriots who have dared to die so that freedom might live, and grow and increase in its blessings. Freedom lives and through it he lives--in a way that humbles the undertakings of most men."
                                    --Franklin D. Roosevelt

Fifteen years after Todd's death we have decided to provide highlights of special events that continue to honor Todd's legacy. In the years ahead we hope other family members will take on this website and remember the same "A soldier only dies unless he is forgotten." -- Donn and Jeanne Weaver, Cocoa Beach, FL August, 2025

In today's world the internet tells stories to our surprise, in the summer of 2025 from Todd's brother, Glenn who was alerted by a army friend that a North Carolina Little League Team had taken on Todd's name as their team focus.

For the final time in Florida, Todd's mom displayed her series of paintings, "Losing Todd, A Mother's Journey in Florida. More than 300 people passed through the Porcher House in Cocoa leading up to and during Memorial Day to view the paintings. Jeanne also gave the Keynote speech at the City of Cocoa Memorial Day Ceremony and Donn served as emcee. The paintings will be permanently gifted to the College of William and Mary later in the Fall.

Above shows Jeanne holds one of the paintings in the series while Todd's father stands next to her. The painting is of Todd holding his little baby girl, Kiley. Other paintings are standing against the walls in their carriers.

On Monday, August 25, 2025, Todd’s Mom, Jeanne gifted the twenty-one oil paintings, Losing Todd: A Mother’s Journey to the Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William and Mary. . The paintings will be exhibited this fall in coordination with the 250th year celebrations of the school. They will also be exhibited every four years in perpetuity so that every student at W&M will have the opportunity to learn about Todd’s life and his sacrifice. We also brought up two large boxes of memorabilia pertaining to Todd and his life for the Special Collections Section of Swem Library. Many have asked why— In my mind, it was time. I have worked hard through speeches, interviews, writings, the paintings and the book to build a lasting legacy of remembrance for my son. Many have come to know him and will always remember him. It is now time for me, his mother, to remember my loving youngest son privately, in my heart.

During the afternoon of August 25, we visited Todd's Tree planted near Wren Hall. It is so very beautiful, healthy and so tall now nearly 15 years after it was planted. Shown is Todd's Dad, Donn sitting on the bench gifted in memory of Todd.

Todd's father, Donn has been an active volunteer for Wreaths Across America for the past eight years. While we traveled up to Maine this summer we stopped to visit with those dedicated workers at the Wreaths Across America Headquarters in Columbia Falls, Maine. Why a wonderful visit we had with them. There is an impressive museum there as well as a Gold Star Home. The home is available for any Gold Star family member to stay in for free. The home is beautifully and historically decorated.

Sep5-6,2025: Donn and Jeanne travel to Ft Benning for the "Rededication Global War on Terrorism Memorial". It is a worthwhile event. This year added was a monument to Gold Star Families - created with simplicity and elegance.

Sep 9, 2025: We received many emails, Facebook messages etc yesterday. This one from Stephen Popps was extra special. Stephen is now a lawyer with his own family. He went to W&M with Todd. He also gave one of the speeches at the Wren Building on the dedication of the tree on the W&M campus near the Wren Building in 2011. His message to us: "Todd’s challenge coin was displayed in the Office of the Virginia Attorney General today and his photo is on our counter at home. My kids did not get a chance to meet him but they know who he was a hero".
